Transportation

Welcome to the Madison-Grant United School Corporation’s Transportation Department’s page!

Our Transportation Department is committed to providing the best possible services to the students and families of our community. The Madison-Grant United School Corporation’s district is approximately 175 square miles of predominately rural farm land. We currently have 15 regular routes and two special education routes providing transportation across the district. We also offer transportation to students that qualify to participate in the Hind’s Vocational Program as well as classes at Indiana Wesleyan University and the Ivy Tech Marion Campus. Elementary students participating in certain athletics and extra-curricular activities have the opportunity to ride the bus from Park Elementary to the junior/senior high to attend practices.

Due to the size of our district, the Transportation Department has been utilizing a shuttle process for several years. Our current shuttle process is summarized below:

K–2nd grade students will be shuttled to/from Summitville Elementary while our 3rd–6th grade students will be shuttled to/from Park Elementary. This may require your student(s) to transfer buses. Student transfers will take place in the bus only parking lot at the junior/senior high school under the supervision of staff members.

Parents who would like to drop off/pick up students at the junior/senior high may do so at the k–6 transfer station. Families utilizing the transfer station will be assigned a bus to ride to/from their designated school. Students will be escorted from the parent drop off/pick up line and then to their assigned bus by school staff members. It is important that your student(s) stay in your vehicle until directed to exit. Students should exit the vehicle so that they are stepping onto the sidewalk and not into the lane of traffic.

If you do not receive a call from your bus driver, that means your student(s) bus number, stop location, and pick-up time has not changed from last year. If you are new to the district or have a kindergartner or preschooler, the bus driver will contact you a few days prior to school with your bus number, stop location, and approximate pick-up time. Please email the Transportation Department if you need to make updates to your children(s) transportation or to get information regarding their bus schedule.

Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns regarding your student(s) transportation!

We wish your student(s) a very successful school year,

Kristy Drewitz

Important Things To Remember

  • Address Change: Please make sure your addresses have been updated with the school offices. We use the address for routing purposes. In the event your family moves, please contact the office where your student(s) attend and let them know that you will need new transportation arrangements. Once our department receives the information, we will reassign your student(s) to a bus and contact you with the new bus/driver information.

  • Transportation Change (Short-term): If your student(s) need a transportation change for the day, please contact the office where the student(s) attend so that the office can write a pass for your student(s) to ride another bus.

  • Transportation Change (Long-term): If you need to make a more permanent change to your student(s)’s primary transportation, please contact the Transportation Department at (765) 536-0008, ext. 1704 or via email

General Bus Safety Guidelines:

  • Students should be ready to load the bus five minutes prior to the scheduled stop time.

  • Students must stay seated for the duration of his/her bus route.

  • In order to keep from distracting the bus driver, students should use their quiet voices and keep noise levels down while the bus is in motion.

  • Students should be respectful of the bus driver and other passengers at all times and follow directions.

Please review the bus conduct requirements and rules for students riding the bus.

Parent Pick Up And Drop Off

Park Elementary - Parents are to pick up and drop off students in the parent lane just south of the school (entrance is off of Tyler Street). Drop off times begin at 8:05 a.m. with the school day starting at 8:25 a.m. Student dismissal begins at 2:50 p.m. in the same location. Parents should not use the bus parking lot or the south parking lot to pick up or drop off students during student arrival or dismissal times. All students should be dropped off in the designated car drop off line.

Summitville Elementary - Parents are to pick up and drop off students along the sidewalk on Mill St. The drop off times begin at 8:05 a.m. with the school day starting at 8:25 a.m. Student dismissal begins at 2:50 p.m. Buses will be loading/unloading students at the school entrance on Broadway Street.

Junior/Senior High School - Parents may drop off students beginning at 7:50 a.m. with the school day starting at 8:05 a.m. At the end of the day, students will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. Parents should pick up and drop off students at door 6 or 7 located at the back of the junior/senior high building. If parents are dropping off students after 8:05 a.m. they should drop students off at door #3 so that the student can sign in and get a pass for class. If you are picking up a student early for an appointment, you may do so at door #3. We ask that all cars are clear of the bus parking lot by 2:50 p.m. due to bus arrival for dismissal.
